Pick your water

River, saltwater, or fly. One guide for every fishery on the Peninsula, matched to the run and your dates.

River Salmon

Kenai & Kasilof · June to September

Chase kings, sockeye, and silvers on the Kenai and Kasilof. Sockeye fishing is fast and physical when the run is in, and silvers pull hard into late summer. We match the river and the date to whatever is running strongest.

Halibut & Saltwater

Cook Inlet · May to September

Head out on Cook Inlet for halibut and bottom fish. Halibut put up a heavy, stubborn fight and fill a cooler with some of the best eating in Alaska. Early summer brings strong action, and the saltwater fishes well all season.

Trout & Fly

Kenai River · June to October

The Kenai is a world class rainbow trout fishery. We fish it with fly and light tackle once trout season opens. Rainbows and Dolly Varden feed behind spawning salmon, so the bite climbs through late summer and peaks in September.

Combo & Multiple Days

River + Saltwater · All season

Want salmon one day and halibut the next? We build combo trips and multiple day packages so you cover river and saltwater on the same visit. It is the best way to sample everything the Peninsula offers and time each day around the run.

Your guide

One guide. Every fishery on the Peninsula.

Plenty of operations run one river and one species. NorthRun fishes them all, from river salmon to Cook Inlet halibut to wild trout on the fly. You book the bite, not whatever a single boat happens to chase.

It is a small operation run by Brandon Phillips. You fish with the guide, not a rotating crew, and every trip is built around the run and your dates.

Good to know

Before you book

Do I need a fishing license?

Yes. Everyone 18 and older needs an Alaska sport fishing license, plus a king salmon stamp to keep a king. Nonresidents can buy online through the Alaska Department of Fish and Game before you arrive, so you are ready on day one.

When is the best time to come?

It depends on your target. Come in June for Kasilof kings and the first sockeye, in July for peak sockeye, and in August and September for silvers and trophy rainbow trout. Halibut fishes well all season.

What should I bring and wear?

Dress in layers and plan for cool, wet weather even in summer. Bring rain gear, warm layers, non slip shoes, polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, and food for the day. We supply the rest.

Can you handle fish processing and shipping?

Yes. We point you to local processors who clean, vacuum seal, freeze, and box your catch. They can ship it home for you, so your fish arrives ready for the freezer.

Are kids and beginners welcome?

Absolutely. We guide first timers, families, and kids all the time. We handle the gear and the instruction, so you just show up and fish.

What about Kenai king salmon closures?

Kenai king fishing has seen restrictions and closures in recent years to protect the run. Regulations can change mid season, so we fish what is legally open and steer trips toward the Kasilof or other targets when needed. We always follow current ADF&G rules.

Dates fill fast.
The run won't wait.

Call Brandon, tell him when you are in town, and lock your day on the water.
